Whenever rumors circulate around former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and his departure from his current team, fans always speculate about the possibility of McCoy coming back to the team that drafted him.
NFL insider Mike Garafolo wouldn’t rule out the Birds pursuing their former All-Pro back in free agency this offseason either. “I would not discount the possibility of him returning to the Eagles,” Garafolo said. “I also would not discount the possibility that he meets up with Anthony Lynn out with the Chargers, who are going to have some changes in the backfield. So, some interesting possibilities for LeSean McCoy as he heads into free agency.”
Bringing in a veteran back like Shady is certainly a possibility for Philly. With Jordan Howard and Corey Clement set to become free agents, along with Darren Sproles announcing his retirement, someone will need to help fill that void.
Miles Sanders figures to be the featured back for Doug Pederson’s offense, with Boston Scott getting a solid work load as well. Adding a veteran presence like McCoy to that duo is an interesting option, one that general manager Howie Roseman will surely look into.
McCoy finished last season with 465 rushing yards and five total touchdowns. He’ll be 32-years-old heading into next season.
