The Atlanta Falcons faced one of the more restrictive salary cap situations in the NFL this offseason. A move they made to free up some room was to release Devonta Freeman. As a result, adding talents like Todd Gurley in free agency became easier.
The asking price Freeman has been providing teams has been simply too high to get a deal done. That has prompted the report from NFL Network’s Michael Silver stating the running back could sit out for the 2020 season ‘if his number isn’t met.’
There are teams interested in Freeman’s services but it’s clear he will need to lower his expectations regarding potential compensation. Doing so would open up no shortage of potential options and that would enable him to re-establish value next offseason for a more lucrative deal.
During the 2019 season, Freeman appeared in 14 games for the Falcons. He recorded 184 rushes for 656 yards and 2 touchdowns along with 59 receptions for 410 yards and 4 touchdowns. It was a down-year but he remained productive, nevertheless.
With that being said, here are four landing spots that would be ideal for Devonta Freeman ahead of the 2020 NFL season.
