NFL Free Agency 2021: 3 potential landing spots for Jameis Winston

New Orleans Saints

The most obvious choice for Jameis Winston is to re-sign with the Saints. Drew Brees is nearing retirement. His future with the Saints is still up in the air. Winston resigning with the Saints would make the most sense because he already has an understanding of the offense. Learning an entirely new offense would be disadvantageous for Winston if he could just resign with the Saints.

The Saints resigning Winston makes a lot of sense as well. They get a pro-bowl caliber QB who could be better than ever after his eye surgery. The Saints roster is filled with talent. However, bringing in a new Quarterback will set the offense back.

Sean Payton has always done a good job of building a game plan that best utilizes his quarterback’s talents. The Saints offense transitioned from Drew Brees to Teddy Bridgewater without missing a beat. It seems possible a similar situation with the transition from Brees to Winston.

Jameis Winston can still be a Pro-Bowl QB. He has a lot of arm talent and can really push the ball down the field. Turnovers have been a problem, but that could have been due to his poor eyesight. The Saints have one of the best all-around rosters in the league. Having a talent like Winston can keep the Saints in Super Bowl contention.
