3. Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans are going for it all. After an unexpected run to the AFC Championship Game in 2019, the Titans locked up their core pieces. They gave Ryan Tannehill a four-year extension worth $118 million. This is definitely too much money but Tannehill was a huge reason for the success down the stretch of the season. Tennessee also locked up Derrick Henry for four years and $50 million. Could they be in the market for a big name cornerback?
When Jalen Ramsey was on the trade market in Jacksonville, there was mutual interest between sides. The Titans have recently paid cornerbacks. In 2018, they lured Malcolm Butler away from the New England Patriots with $61.25 million over five years. Adoree Jackson is still under his rookie deal for 2020. The Titans exercised a $10.2 million option for 2021 so they still have control for two more years. Tennessee has an out after the 2020 season for Butler. This would make his deal three years worth $36.3 million and leave $4 million in dead cap.
Butler has five interceptions in two years with the Titans. He played just nine games in 2019 and had 32 tackles. Butler made a name for himself when he picked off Russell Wilson at the goal line in the Super Bowl. He got his contract but when there is a chance to add a player like Ramsey, you do not mess around. This is a place where Ramsey would sign a contract. In 2021, there will be an eye on Tennessee and Ramsey.
