2. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams were the team that sent three picks to the Jaguars in return for Ramsey. The 2020 first-round pick was used on K’Lavon Chaisson. The Rams can handle the Jalen Ramsey situation in many ways. He could be dealt in 2020 or they could choose to offer him a contract extension. Ramsey has informed the Rams that he will not holdout at the beginning of the 2020 season if a deal is not made. That is a good sign for Los Angeles.
Ramsey is set to earn $13.7 million in 2020 under his fifth-year option. That number could go down for the 2020 season if the two sides are able to work out a deal. Also, Los Angeles gave up three picks, including two first rounders, for Ramsey. That is a high price to rent a player for a year and a half. The Rams could justify that trade by giving Ramsey a contract. On the other hand, he is in line to become the highest paid cornerback in league history. The Rams will have to decide if that is something they are interested in.
The Rams have a schedule with Ramsey. It is extremely unlikely that he plays under the franchise tag in 2021 if Los Angeles decides to go that way. They will have the 2020 season to figure out a plan. Troy Hill is also in the final year of his two-year deal with the Rams. The secondary will be a huge need for the Rams following the 2020 season and extending Ramsey would address the need.
