3. Jacksonville Jaguars
Let’s now go down the path to Fournette staying in, or going back to, Jacksonville. The Jaguars apparently couldn’t give him away during the draft, and barring an injury to a starting running back elsewhere to spurs a trade offer he’ll be lined up behind Gardner Minshew come Week 1.
Head coach Doug Marrone and general manager David Caldwell some survived after Tom Coughlin departed before the end of last season. But they are both clearly on the hot seat. If the Jaguars do finish as one of the worst teams in the league, a new coach and general manager will be coming in for 2021.
Said new regime could see Fournette as an asset, and he’ll be just 26 years old next spring. Circling back to him as a key piece to go with Minshew or a incoming rookie quarterback would not be out of the question. Even if Caldwell trades him for assets in the meantime, Fournette could be open to a return if other suitable offers aren’t out there.
