2. Pittsburgh Steelers
James Conner is coming off an injury-hampered 2019 season, and he’s entering the final year of his contact. The Steelers didn’t invest a premium draft pick in a running back, but Anthony McFarland was an interesting choice in the fourth round.
It hasn’t mattered who it is in recent years (DeAngelo Williams, Le’Veon Bell, etc.), with injuries and holdouts altering the equation, the Steelers rely on a bell cow back without prejudice if at all possible.
If Conner shows he can’t stay healthy again this year, the Steelers’ decision to move on will be easy. As long as Ben Roethlisberger is the quarterback, the team is in a win-now window. A one or two-year investment in Fournette next March may very well be on the radar.
