NFL Free Agency 2021: Predicting where each notable QB will sign

Tyrod Taylor, Chargers

Tyrod Taylor

It truly does not matter how well Taylor plays this season for the Chargers. Unless he puts up MVP-like numbers, Justin Herbert will be the starter in Los Angeles next season. However, Taylor could find himself starting somewhere else.

While his time in Cleveland was a major setback, Taylor wasn’t really a good fit for their scheme. However, Chicago does have that west-coast style that fits Taylor’s skill-set very well.

Tyrod is a mobile quarterback who, up to this point, has been very good at limiting turnovers. Taylor is a smart player who makes the correct reads, and he understands where to go with the football. While he doesn’t have a cannon arm, Taylor has flashed the ability to put some nice touch on those deep throws. These are all very important aspects of the West Coast offense.

Taylor won’t be the long-term solution, there are many up-and-coming rookies and prospects with a lot of talent. However, Taylor would be a very good stop-gap quarterback.

Taylor may not be the superstar QB who can carry an offense, however, that isn’t what Chicago needs. The Bears need to limit their turnovers, capitalize on their opportunities and control the clock.

The Bears’ defense is good enough to hold most opposing offenses. They truly do not need their quarterback to win games for them, they just need one who won’t make mistakes that cost the game.

Prediction: Chicago Bears
