Aaron Jones
Aaron Jones had a breakout season last year. After tying Derrick Henry in rushing touchdowns, it would make sense for both parties to want an extension. Packers head coach Matt LeFleur has made it clear the Packers will be a balanced team.
The years of forcing Aaron Rodgers to throw the ball over 50 times a game are over. While that may not sit well with the future first-ballot Hall of Famer, there’s no denying Green Bay was successful last season.
Jones is a talented back, but the Packers’ system fits him like a glove. Although last season was considered his breakout year, it wasn’t much of a surprise. Jones averaged over five yards a carry the two years prior to last. LeFleur giving him more opportunities, and Jones staying healthy led to the backs most productive season of his career.
The Packers are a Super Bowl contender this season. Keeping Jones will provide stability in the backfield for at least four to five more years.
Jones may have to take a pay cut to stay with Green Bay. The Packers have a lot of big contracts on the table. However, resigning with the Packers is Jones best chance of winning. Green Bay established they are not just in win-now mode, but they are going for a dynasty after drafting QB Jordan Love. The Packers are likely to make the necessary moves in order to pay Jones the contract he deserves.
