Leonard Fournette
How ironic that Leonard Fournette, the player who had more rushing touchdowns at Heinz Field than any back on their roster in 2017, would end up in Pittsburgh. Fournette is a strong power back, something the Steelers love. Last season he flashed the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, another staple of the Tomlin offense. Throughout his career, Fournette has faced stacked defenses and poor offensive line play. That would all change if he signed with the Steelers.
Leonard Fournette is one of the most underrated backs in the NFL. He has fallen out of favor with a few Jaguars fans because he has yet to live up to expectations. Some of that hate is due to the fact Fournette was taken ahead of Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. However, Fournette is truly an unappreciated talent.
During his rookie season, the Jaguars offense revolved solely around Fournette. Game in and game out he faced stacked boxes and blitzes designed to stop the run. According to NFL Daily & Raiders Report Host Mitchell Renz in his rookie season, Fournette face 8 or more defenders in the box on almost half his carries.
When Fournette is given space to work he has been very good. Last season with Garnder Minshew forcing defenses to respect the pass, Fournette posted career highs in YPC, rushing yards, and receiving yards.
The Jaguars’ offensive line has also been consistently one of the worst in the league throughout his entire career. He may want to go to a team with a respectable offensive line. Pittsburgh has a quality offensive-line. The pairing could spell trouble for the rest of the NFL.
Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers
