Dak Prescott was a fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Mississippi State product took advantage of a Tony Romo injury in the preseason when he got a chance to show himself off.
Prescott was named the starter heading into the 2016 season and he has started all 16 games over the last four years. He was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year after throwing 23 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
In 64 games, Prescott has thrown 97 touchdowns and just 36 interceptions. The Cowboys have locked up their core offensive players aside from their quarterback. Both Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper have been paid beyond the 2020 season. Overall, Prescott has a 40-24 regular season record as a starter with two NFC East titles and one playoff victory.
Prescott signed his exclusive franchise tag which will pay him $31.4 million in 2020. The two sides have expressed interest in a long term deal but nothing was able to get done before the deadline.
Some executives are saying that Prescott could get a contract similar, if not larger, than what the Kansas City Chiefs gave Patrick Mahomes. That would be asinine for many reasons but you never know with Jerry Jones.
