Predicted team in 2020: Los Angeles Chargers

Without a doubt, Bridgewater is arguably the most interesting free agency option at quarterback. Early in the 2019 season, Drew Brees injured his thumb and was forced to miss five games for the New Orleans Saints.

As if nothing changed, Bridgewater replaced Brees and kept the Saints offense running on all cylinders. Over those five starts, Bridgewater completed 69.7 percent of his attempts for 1,205 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Above all, the former first-round pick led New Orleans to a 5-0 record in Brees’ absence. However, with Brees returning for his 20th season in 2020, that all but spells the end for Bridgewater’s tenure with the Saints.

The reason that Bridgewater is arguably the most interesting case in free agency is that whatever teams signs him, is basing their decision off of five games in 2019. Nevertheless, the Los Angeles Chargers have been linked as a team that could sign Bridgewater in free agency.

With Rivers on his way out, the Chargers could sign Bridgewater to compete with Tyrod Taylor for the starting job. In addition, signing Bridgewater would allow Los Angeles to address the offensive line with the No. 6 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after sending Russell Okung to the Carolina Panthers.
