The AFC North is a division that features significant intrigue surrounding the quarterback position heading into the 2020 NFL season. The Ravens have a reigning MVP while the Bengals and Browns have recent No. 1 overall picks. Meanwhile, the Steelers have a comeback story for a long-time starter.
When a player puts together an incredible season as Lamar Jackson did with the Ravens in 2019, there’s always a question regarding whether they can do it again. It’s very difficult to sustain such results season-to-season as seen in other recent MVP winners.
The Browns ‘won’ the offseason heading into last season but the results didn’t translate on the field. The underwhelming play of Baker Mayfield played a key role in those struggles despite having such an impressive rookie season. He will aim to show progress in 2020.
Having mediocre quarterback production proved to be too much for an elite defense to overcome for the Steelers. With Ben Roethlisberger returning to the lineup after a season-ending injury, he will look to return back to his previous form and lead a contender.
Lastly, the typical battle between a rookie quarterback’s effort to turn a losing franchise around and the need for patience will be the situation Joe Burrow and the Bengals face. Nothing is given in the NFL and rookies learn that each year.
With that being said, let’s take a look at how each quarterback in the AFC North will fare in the 2020 NFL season.
