The NFC East will be a two-team race in the 2020 NFL season but all four quarterbacks will have eyes on them. In the offseason, the division has been full of drama led by Washington making the decision to change their name, but the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Philadelphia Eagles have storylines, too.
The Cowboys and Eagles are expected to be at the top fighting for the NFC East title. Dallas was unable to sign Dak Prescott to a long term contract. He signed his franchise tender worth $31.4 million for 2020. In Philadelphia, Carson Wentz is looking to lead the Eagles to back-to-back division titles. He started his first playoff game in 2019 but was knocked out in the first quarter.
Wentz could enter the season with a chip on his shoulder. He was left off the NFL’s Top 100 list voted on by the players. There has been plenty of talk about where Wentz ranks among active quarterbacks. He has a chance to show his worth this season. As for the bottom half of the division, they will showcase second year quarterbacks looking to take the next step.
Both Washington and the Giants selected quarterbacks in the top 15 of the 2019 NFL Draft. It began with the Giants making the surprise selection of Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth pick. Washington followed that up nine picks later by drafting Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins. Both Jones and Haskins got a chance to start as rookies which gave them experience heading into year two.
There are high hopes for some NFC East quarterbacks as well as low ones. The starters are all set and there will be no competitions. Here is how each quarterback will fare in the 2020 NFL season compared to last season.
