Los Angeles Rams

When thinking about some the most disappointing teams in the NFL in 2019, the Los Angeles Rams certainly are near the top of the list, if not at the top. Coming off a Super Bowl loss, they followed it up by posting a 9-7 record and failing to even land a Wild Card appearance.

A contributing factor in the Rams’ struggles was the underwhelming play of Jared Goff. He led the NFL in passing attempts (626) and posted a completion rate of 62.9%, resulting in 4,638 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.

The Rams didn’t have to make substantial changes to their personnel considering injuries were the main concern last season. Both Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp will be healthy to start the season. Not having them both on the field consistently proved to be challenging to overcome.

The ESPN projection for Goff in 2020 features him completing 369-of-579 (63.7%) pass attempts for 4,287 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Figures of this level would feature another stagnant year in his development as a quarterback.

It seems Goff is primed for a better year than what ESPN anticipates him having in 2020. It’s difficult to envision him finishing with just 22 touchdowns and not experiencing at least somewhat of a decline in his interception total.
