Atlanta Falcons
The run game has not been an issue for the Atlanta Falcons over the years. They featured a dynamic duo of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman for many years. Coleman is now in San Francisco and Freeman remains a free agent heading into the 2020 season.
Now, their backfield will be led by Todd Gurley, who was released by the Los Angeles Rams back in March. It has not been long since Gurley was at the top of the league. He was named First-Team All-Pro in 2017 and 2018 after leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns each year.
In 2019, the Rams did not use Gurley as they have in the past. He still finished with 12 rushing touchdowns. Now, the Falcons will look for him to have a bounce-back season.
In 2020, ESPN projects Gurley to rush for 856 yards and seven touchdowns. He is still a capable receiver out of the backfield. Behind Gurley on the depth chart is Ito Smith and Brian Hill. The Falcons still feature many weapons despite the loss of Austin Hooper. They will be a tough offense if Matt Ryan returns to MVP form.
