NFL Insider Reveals More Huge Details On Derrick Henry, Ravens

Derrick Henry, Baltimore Ravens

There is a growing belief that the Baltimore Ravens could end up swinging a deal for Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, according to NFL insider Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda.com.

Pauline mentions that the Ravens appear to be the best fit for Henry considering they lost No. 1 back J.K. Dobbins to a torn Achilles back in Week 1. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill have filled in admirably in Dobbins’ stead, but Henry would obviously represent a massive upgrade.

Pauline also notes that the Miami Dolphins have been speculated as a potential destination but doesn’t think the fit makes much sense. The Dolphins feature a pass-heavy offense, and Henry’s pass-catching skills have deteriorated over the past several years (he was also never much of a receiver out of the backfield to begin with). Pauline adds that Henry is also not a zone runner, which is a skill required to play in Miami’s offensive system.

Finally, Pauline says that there is also a sleeper team said to be in the mix for Henry’s services, and some feel that it is the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys seemed comfortable going into the season with Tony Pollard as their featured back, but Pollard has been disappointing through the club’s first six games, averaging just 3.9 yards per carry.

The Titans are just 2-4 on the season and have hardly resembled contenders, not even in the very winnable AFC South. Henry is slated to hit free agency this offseason, and with Tennessee headed for what seems to be an inevitable rebuild, Henry—who turns 30 in January—no longer fits the franchise’s timeline.

As a result, Henry seems like a prime candidate to be dealt ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.

Through the Titans’ first six games of 2023, Derrick Henry has rushed for 425 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He may not be the same 2,000+ yard back from a few years ago, but Henry would still be a fantastic addition to any contending team.
