Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers were hoping to get things back on track in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, that didn’t end up being the case. Instead, they ended up losing to Joe Burrow and company by a final score of 31-17.

After a few days of wondering whether Purdy would be able to play or not due to a concussion, the 49ers were pleased to get him on the field. However, he did not produce good numbers once again.

Against the Bengals, Purdy completed 22 of his 31 pass attempts for 365 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Purdy also lost a fumble, totaling three turnovers in the game.

While fans and media members have begun believing that opposing defenses have figured Purdy out, NFL legend Tony Romo spoke out with a bold take on the topic.

“He’ll be fine. His skillset is there. They’re not ‘finding him out.'”

On the season in eight games played, Purdy has completed 68.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,033 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Those numbers don’t look like a quarterback who has been “figured out” by any stretch.

Granted, he has slowed down a bit over the last few games. He has turned the football over more. But, those are common issues that every quarterback can go through in stretches.

At just 23 years of age, the sky is still the limit for Brock Purdy. He is still one of the fastest rising young superstars in the NFL. That isn’t going to change and he should not be viewed in any kind of negative light for having a few rough games over the course of a season.

Next up for the 49ers will be a November 12th matchup on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 49ers are certainly ready for their bye week and it couldn’t have come at a better time for Purdy to get back to full health. After the bye week, the 49ers will look to get back to being one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFL.

Expect to see Purdy come out of the bye week looking to prove a point. He has heard the critics and remains extremely confident in himself. Now, it’s his time to silence those doubters the rest of the way.
