NFL Legend Peyton Manning Speaks Out On Future

Many professional athletes enter into different business ventures following their retirement from the game. It is not unlikely to see former players buy a piece of a franchise in their respective leagues or other sports. A well-known case of this is Michael Jordan owning the Charlotte Hornets. However, legendary Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has publicly stated that he has no interest in purchasing an NFL team anytime soon.

Despite being one of the best quarterbacks of a generation, Manning said it was not on his radar to become an owner.

Manning had this to say in an interview with the Denver Post when asked about owning a franchise:

“I don’t think that’s anywhere on my radar by any means.”

He was also quoted as saying, “I love being an ambassador for the Broncos and for the Colts, for the University of Tennessee.”

Manning also stated that he regularly attends Broncos games, and he also made it clear that he loves being involved with the organization, and that he has a close relationship with the new owners as well. The former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos gunslinger has also said he is at the Denver Broncos facility multiple times a week, whether due to sports for his children or just being around the team.

Another Chapter In Peyton Manning vs Tom Brady

Unlike his former rival Tom Brady, Peyton Manning wants to keep a low profile and does not want to expand his business ventures beyond his current Omaha Productions duties. Brady has notably expressed interest in buying an NFL franchise, and he has bought into other business ventures in the soccer world as well.

Although attaching Peyton Manning‘s name to any franchise would give it a massive boost in terms of profit and notability, that is just something that will have to wait until later down the line, if ever.

Understanding The Risk

You can’t really blame Peyton Manning for not wanting to buy a new NFL franchise or buying a majority share in a franchise in a different sport either. The truth is, although sometimes you will be wildly successful, the previously mentioned Charlotte Hornets, owned by Michael Jordan, have struggled throughout the majority of his ownership.

Many people view that as a massive negative in terms of the legacy he left out on the court. So maybe Peyton Manning does not want to take the chance of diminishing the legacy he left on the gridiron by purchasing a team and taking a risk that could prove to be unsuccessful.

What If He Did Buy?

However, it still leaves you to ponder the question: if Peyton Manning were to buy and do an NFL franchise, which franchise would it be exactly?

Due to his role as an ambassador for the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos, it seems very likely that he would buy into one of those two teams. Or, do you think Peyton Manning would purchase a franchise unaffiliated with the teams that he suited up for?

He could certainly be a guy who is up for a new challenge and a new opportunity elsewhere in the league.
