Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently stated that he has been thinking about retirement, and former NFL wide receiver and current Fox Sports analyst Keyshawn Johnson thinks that’s a sign Kelce is already on his way out.

Speaking on FS1’s Undisputed this week, Johnson said that he isn’t surprised about Kelce pondering retirement given how much he has accomplished thus far in his career. He also said that Kelce may already have one foot out the door.

In the nine games Kelce has played this season, he has logged 64 catches for 641 yards and five touchdowns.

The 34-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Cincinnati, was selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

It didn’t take long for Kelce to establish himself as one of the best tight ends in football, as he made the Pro Bowl as soon as his third season after catching 72 passes for 875 yards and five touchdowns.

That marked the first of eight straight trips to the Pro Bowl for Kelce, who has also earned four First-Team All-Pro selections during that span.

He has registered seven straight 1,000-yard campaigns and holds the record for the most receiving yards by a tight end in a single season, which he achieved in 2020 when he racked up 1,416 yards.

Kelce has also won a pair of Super Bowl championships and has played in three Super Bowls overall, so his list of accolades is certainly significant.

The Westlake, Oh. native certainly seems to have a bright future in television, as he hosts a popular podcast with his brother and has appeared in numerous commercials. Additionally, he is currently dating pop singer Taylor Swift.

Perhaps Travis Kelce will ultimately walk away from the game early while he still has his health and all of his faculties in check. It’s not like he has a whole lot more to accomplish.

The Chiefs are 7-3 and will head on the road to battle the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
