Aaron Rodgers Primed To End Playoff Losing Streak vs Niners

The Green Bay Packers had the luxury of watching Super Wild Card weekend from their homes as they earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC. It is the second consecutive NFL postseason that the Packers will have home-field advantage, as the road to the Super Bowl will go through Lambeau Field.

Having the extra week off is something that Green Bay seems like they will benefit greatly from. The bye week has given some of their injured players more time to heal and rest up and they are taking full advantage.

Whitney Mercilus, Jaire Alexander, Randall Cobb and Za’Darius Smith are all expected to return after extended absences. That will give the Packers a nice boost as they will need all the help they can get to get over the hump and make it back to the Super Bowl.

As long as Aaron Rodgers is under center, Green Bay will have a chance to win the game. Alas, everyone has a kryptonite, and for Rodgers, his is the San Francisco 49ers. Rodgers has never defeated the 49ers in a postseason game, as he is 0-3 in this career.

But, he will get a fourth crack at it next weekend, as the 49ers pulled off the upset against the Dallas Cowboys. As a result, they will be traveling to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers next weekend.

The most recent matchup came two years ago when the Green Bay Packers traveled to Levi Stadium for the NFC Championship Game. San Francisco picked up the victory rather easily, leading 27-0 at halftime and eventually pulling off the 37-20 victory.

While the San Francisco 49ers are riding high after a come from behind win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18 and the victory over the Cowboys, this is Aaron Rodgers’ time to snap the streak. He is poised to do so when the teams match up in the Divisional Round.

San Francisco is a tough matchup for Green Bay given their strong running game, as they are built to succeed in the cold. But, the Packers have a huge advantage at the quarterback position.

Jimmy Garoppolo showed his ceiling against Dallas with numerous missed throws and an untimely turnover late in the game that nearly cost them. If those plays occur against the Packers, a team at least one or two tiers ahead of the Cowboys, they will take advantage.

This is one of the best rosters that has ever surrounded Aaron Rodgers. If he can continue playing at the MVP level that he did in the regular season, the Green Bay Packers will be in a great position to defeat the San Francisco 49ers and advance to the NFC Championship Game for the third year in a row.
