Las Vegas Raiders: Pass Defense

Overall, the Las Vegas Raiders’ defense struggled mightily to execute during the 2019 season. It’s why Las Vegas made a clear effort to add plenty of veteran in free agency to help reinforce key areas of the unit. One area that stands out as a work in progress, in particular, is their pass coverage.

Last season, the Raiders gave up a total of 4,107 passing yards (8th) and 33 touchdown throws (T-4th), showing clear weakness in this area. The lack of results they achieved made it apparent that making changes was necessary to have a more successful 2020 season.

The Raiders did make a real effort to improve their secondary starting with the addition of the versatile linebacker Cory Littleton along with Damarious Randall. Las Vegas will need Damon Arnette to hit the ground running and for Trayvon Mullen to build off his rookie campaign.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that being able to slow down opposing team’s passing attacks is important in the AFC West. The Kansas City Chiefs and now potentially the Denver Broncos, will make a defense pay for being unable to get the job done.
