Pittsburgh Steelers
Losing Ben Roethlisberger to a season-ending injury proved to be too much for the Pittsburgh Steelers to overcome last season. Now, he’s back in the lineup and is working his way back into form in training camp. Protecting him will be a critical objective they must achieve.
A particular spot on the offensive line that will need to be sorted out is the left guard spot. After the decision by Ramon Foster to retire, the Steelers are expected to move Matt Feiler from left tackle to left guard. He will have to earn it to solidify himself in this role, though.
The main competitor for Foster will be Stefen Wisniewski, who has been a regular starter since entering the NFL. During his time with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, Wisniewski played an integral role during two Super Bowl runs and another AFC Championship Game appearance.
The expectation is that Feiler will win this role, but he will need to continue to perform throughout the season. Wisniewski will be in position to be able to step in and make an impact if the Steelers feel they need to make a change at any point, which bodes well for their depth.
