The Houston Texans may have won the AFC South title in the 2019 NFL season, but the Tennessee Titans had the best season making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game. Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars underwhelmed.
For the Texans, they finished with a 10-6 record but they appear to be in danger of losing their grip on the division. Even though Houston managed to add talent at receiver after trading away DeAndre Hopkins, they appear to be worse off overall now than they were a year ago.
It took a change at quarterback for the Titans to turn things around. They started off poorly with Marcus Mariota under center, but hit their stride when they turned to Ryan Tannehill. Tennessee spent most of their offseason handing out extensions and replacing departures in the NFL Draft.
The Colts made some intriguing changes to their roster in the offseason and will look to have a bounce-back campaign in 2020. Indianapolis landed Philip Rivers to start at quarterback, acquired DeForest Buckner via trade, and added more weapons on offense.
It appears almost certain that it will be a tough season for the Jaguars to rack up many wins. It’s still a rebuilding process for Jacksonville and they will look to experience progress in player development and add more pieces in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Each of these team’s has roster decisions that will need to be sorted out using training camp. Without the preseason to be able to get a live look at personnel, there will be an added importance to training camp.
With that being said, let’s take a look at one huge training camp battle for each team in the AFC South.
