Jaylon Johnson, Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears did not have a pick in the first round this year. They entered the second round with two picks and it began at No. 43 when they took Cole Kmet out of Notre Dame. This selection did not make much sense given their depth at the tight end position. Their second selection was more of a home run.
With the 50th overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Bears landed Jaylon Johnson out of Utah. This immediately labeled a steal given the fact that Johnson was being rumored as a first round pick. He ended up falling and the Bears took advantage of it.
Johnson suffered a torn labrum prior to the 2019 season but did not miss time. He endured the injury and stayed on the field for Utah. He did not show much of his physicality because of the injury but he did enough to stay on radars. When healthy, Johnson is a physical player that can be on the outside or in the slot.
Johnson will arrive in Chicago as an impact player. He can play right away and turn into a key contributor.
