Chicago Bears — David Montgomery

When the Bears took David Montgomery in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Matt Nagy and company were ecstatic to add him to the offense. The rookie out of Iowa State would replace Jordan Howard as the featured back, while also sharing touches with Tarik Cohen.

In his debut season in the Windy City, Montgomery rushed for 889 yards and six touchdowns on 242 carries. He also contributed 25 receptions for 185 yards and another touchdown as a receiver out of the backfield.

Even though he averaged a mere four yards per touch in 2019, Montgomery flashed his playmaking ability, breaking 28 tackles throughout his rookie year (tied for the third-most in the NFL). Seeing that it’s likely that Foles starts under center for the Bears — who is an upgrade over Trubisky — Montgomery should see more opportunities to succeed in Chicago’s offense in 2020.
