NFL: One sneaky addition each team in the NFC East should consider

Dallas Cowboys: Jabaal Sheard, DE

The Dallas Cowboys had an extremely strong draft and were productive in free agency. The big story in Dallas is that New York Jets’ safety Jamal Adams requested a trade and the Cowboys were on his preferred list. While adding Adams would be massive for Dallas, it is not sneaky. That would be one of the biggest splashes of the offseason.

That brings us to Jabaal Sheard. Yes, players like Jadeveon Clowney and Everson Griffen are still available at the defensive end position. They would cost the Cowboys much more money than Sheard. This is not something Dallas can mess around with when they still need to find a way to pay Dak Prescott.

Sheard spent the last three years with the Indianapolis Colts. Over the last five years, Sheard has a total of 28.5 sacks. The Cowboys have talent as the defensive end spot with DeMarcus Lawrence and Robert Quinn, but both players receive double teams often. The Cowboys added Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe in the middle to try and change this narrative.

At 31-years-old, Sheard would bring depth and experience to the Cowboys defensive line. This would give them a solid pass rusher at a discount price to have on the roster. No matter what the situation is, this option sounds intriguing.
