New York Giants: Cameron Wake, DE
The New York Giants need a lot of help. They entered the draft with two huge needs, offensive line and defensive end. Dave Gettleman addressed the offensive line by selecting Andrew Thomas with the fourth-overall pick in the NFL Draft. They decided to go with Xavier McKinney in the second round. The Giants did not add a pass rusher but they did draft linebackers with four of their final five picks.
If they are still looking to add a defensive end, there are plenty on the market. One name to watch is Wake. The 38-year old veteran spent 2019 in Tennessee after 10 years with the Miami Dolphins. Wake played just nine games last season without making a start. He was released one year into a three-year deal with the Titans.
Wake and the Giants have not been discussed in the same breathe much this offseason, but this is the definition of a sneaky addition. Before missing time in 2019, Wake totaled double-digit sacks in two of the last three years. He still has the ability to be an effective pass rusher in the NFL and that is what the Giants need.
Aside from his ability on the field, Wake can bring an experienced voice in the locker room to pair with a first year head coach.
