Trade Package: Jacksonville Jaguars trade Andrew Norwell and Dede Westbrook to the Miami Dolphins for Davon Godchaux and picks
Much like the Jaguars, the Dolphins are rebuilding. The Dolphins selected rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick in this years draft.
While Tua has unquestionable talent, he does come with injury concerns. Starting Tua behind one of the leagues worst offensive lines could be a recipe for disaster. Tua also does not have much to work with from a receiver standpoint either. However, all that could change with one trade with Jacksonville.
Although the Jaguars’ offensive line is weak, they have plenty of young players looking for a chance to start. While Norwell never lived up to his contract, he is a decent offensive guard. His struggles have been more with the Jaguars’ heavy power run scheme.
The Dolphins run much more zone than power. The Jaguars also have a promising rookie receiver in Laviska Shenault. Chris Conley and Keelan Cole are serviceable receivers who can pick up from Westbrook’s departure. The Dolphins would add two quality starters in positions of need. Meanwhile, this trade would free up cap space for Jacksonville and allow their young core to get more reps.
Miami trading away Davon Godchaux wouldn’t be too much of a loss either. Although Godchaux is a good player, Miami has a rookie nose tackle who they should develop. Godchaux would only take away reps from Raekwon Davis.
Jacksonville must improve on their interior defensive line play. Godchaux would fit in well with the Jaguars’ scheme. The Dolphins’ fifth-round pick would help aid the Jaguars rebuilding process. This trade is a win-win for both teams.
