Kansas City Chiefs
Trade Package: Kansas City Chiefs trade a 2021 fifth-round and 2022 sixth-round picks to the Philadelphia Eagles for Sidney Jones.
The Eagles went and added a ton of depth at corner this offseason. While Sidney Jones still has potential, he has yet to live up to expectations. With Philadelphia adding so much depth at corner, they may look to ship Jones. The Chiefs would be a fantastic landing place for the young corner.
Kansas City is in need of help in their secondary. Adding Jones gives them so depth, and a player who could eventually grow into a quality corner.
While Jones still has potential, he is more than likely not going to get much playing time in Philadelphia. The Eagles made a trade for a star corner and then went and signed a quality nickel corner in Nickell Robey-Coleman. Getting some value for Jones would be a smart decision, because the Eagles are likely not going to extend him. The Eagles would get a mid round pick, and continue adding depth at key positions.
The Chiefs may not have much cap after signing all of their star players to big extensions this offseason. The Chiefs are coming off a Super Bowl, they do not need to add much. However, their secondary has a few holes. Trading any true contributor of value should be out of the question. However, two mid-to-late round picks is not much of a loss.
Kansas City will have to work with what they have. Adding a young corner with potential would be a big boost for this defense. Jones was a promising prospect coming out of college. This trade would be a low risk-high reward move for the Chiefs.
