NFL: Ranking the 5 best offseason moves in the NFC North

Duron Harmon, Lions, NFL

4. Lions Trade For Duron Harmon

Matt Patricia was an assistant coach for 14 years with the New England Patriots before taking the head coaching position with the Lions. Patricia served as the Patriots’ defensive coordinator for six years and it looks like he is still fond of some of their players. In March, the Lions traded a fifth-round pick for Duron Harmon of the Patriots.

Harmon spent time backing up Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung on the depth chart in New England. He played in all 16 games in 2019, making eight starts, and finished the season with two interceptions and five pass deflections. Harmon is a usable player who has not missed a game since his rookie season in 2013. Harmon will reunite with his former coordinator who named him a team captain.

This move will add experience and leadership to the Lions’ secondary. This is a unit that drastically needed help after a poor 2019 campaign. Harmon will come in and make an immediate impact for Detroit.
