Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
The top spot was an easy choice. Coming off a successful Super Bowl run and another dynamic season, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is clearly the best player at his position in the AFC West and probably in the NFL overall. In fact, there is reason to believe he can raise his production in 2020.
The volume output Mahomes had last season was hampered by being sidelined for two full games and also dishing out only 11 attempts prior to his Week 7 injury against the Denver Broncos. When taking that early exit out, his pace was 4,867.7 passing yards and 30.8 touchdowns.
There’s plenty of reason for excitement about the Chiefs’ offense heading into the 2020 season. Kansas City has significant continuity overall as a team and managed to add former LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to their backfield.
It remains to be seen if Mahomes will manage to reach that incredible level he was at in 2018 from a pure production standpoint. He doesn’t need to fill the stat sheet quite that much, but regardless, he certainly is capable of elevating his figures in key categories significantly in 2020.
