The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team that a lot of people seem to be sleeping on heading into the 2023 season. They have a lot of momentum heading into the year after finishing the 2022 campaign on a high note, winning seven out of their last nine games after the bye week.

A big reason for the team’s turnaround was Kenny Pickett getting comfortable as the team’s starting quarterback. The 2022 first-round pick out of Pittsburgh had a tough start to his professional career when it came to turnovers.

He threw eight interceptions in his first five appearances, including two games with three apiece. Heading into the bye week, ball security was a major topic of discussion. Whatever the Steelers and Pickett did during that week off paid dividends as he was a different player in the second half of the season.

Pickett ended up throwing only one interception the rest of the season, with five touchdowns. While the Steelers’ passing offense wasn’t very prolific, Pickett showed major improvement, making the throws the team needed him to in crunch time.

Heading into the 2023 season, there are a lot of people who seem down on the Steelers and Pickett. They don’t believe that he can elevate his game to another level to help the team win more games.

But, one scout that spoke to NFL Analysis Network, feels the opposite. The scout made a huge bold prediction about what to expect from Pickett and the Steelers’ offense during the 2023 season.

“Kenny (Pickett) has taken a huge leap forward this offseason. I expect him to be a top-10 quarterback this season. He may even outperform those expectations. He’s going to shock a lot of people around the league.”

If Pickett is able to achieve top-10 quarterback status in 2023, or potentially surpass that, the Steelers are going to be Super Bowl contenders. The pieces are in place for a great offense as Pittsburgh improved their offensive line in the offseason and acquired Allen Robinson from the Los Angeles Rams.

With a dominant defense in place, a near-elite offense would put the Steelers in the upper echelon of the league. If Pickett achieves the heights that the scout believes possible, there are going to be a lot of winning Sundays in the fall and winter in Pittsburgh.
