The Baltimore Ravens of the 2023 season are not the same Ravens that we have seen in recent years. They are going to look drastically different offensively as a major change was made to the coaching staff.

For the nearly entirety of Lamar Jackson’s career, the Ravens had Greg Roman as their offensive coordinator. He built a smashmouth scheme around the rushing ability of Jackson, which yielded plenty of success.

But, the passing game left a lot to be desired. So, looking to change things up this season and into the future, the Ravens moved on from Roman and hired Todd Monken. Monken has a more modern approach to his offensive philosophy, as he will be calling a lot more passing plays.

It is something Jackson is excited about and the Ravens put an emphasis on the passing game this offseason. In free agency, wide receivers Nelson Agholor and Odell Beckham Jr. were both signed. With their first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Baltimore selected Boston College standout wide receiver, Zay Flowers.

This is an offense that is set up to be very explosive in 2023 and beyond. Wide receiver Rashod Bateman and tight end Mark Andrews remain in the fold as this is the best group of skill position players that Jackson has been surrounded by in his career.

That is going to pay dividends in the opinion of many. One person who has a bright outlook for the Ravens is an NFL scout who spoke to NFL Analysis Network. They made a massive prediction for the team in 2023.

“Lamar Jackson is back and the Ravens are loaded on both sides of the ball. I think they’ll win the AFC,” the scout said.

That is certainly a bold proclamation to make, but it is certainly doable. As long as Jackson has been healthy, the Ravens have always been one of the better teams in the AFC. With an upgraded group of skill position players around him, they will be even more dangerous on that side of the ball.

Defensively, the Ravens are just as dangerous despite moving on from some veterans in the offseason. If youngsters such as David Ojabo, Odafe Owen and Kyle Hamilton make expected jumps around all-world linebacker Roquan Smith, this will be one of the most productive units in the NFL.
