The Indianapolis Colts took quarterback Anthony Richardson with the fourth overall pick of the NFL Draft back in the spring with the hope that he would turn the franchise around.

An NFL scout feel that that is exactly what Richardson will do.

Following Richardson’s impressive second-half performance during the Colts’ overtime loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon, an NFL scout told the NFL Analysis Network that the youngster displayed incredible potential in the defeat.

“Once again, we saw legitimate superstar potential from Richardson in the second half,” the scout said. “I’m going to go a step farther. In three years, he’ll be a top-five NFL quarterback. You heard it here first.”

Indianapolis fell behind 23-0 at the 7:17 mark of the third quarter, but Richardson and the Colts came roaring back with 23 unanswered points to send the game into overtime.

During the rally, Richardson threw two touchdown passes and ran for another before Indy ultimately fell to Los Angeles in the extra session.

Richardson’s overall numbers on the day didn’t look too impressive. He went 11-for-25 with 200 yards and two touchdowns while carrying the ball 10 times for 56 yards and a score. However, there is no denying that the 21-year-old was phenomenal down the stretch and nearly pulled a win out of thin air.

The Colts fell to 2-2 in the loss, dropping them into a four-way tie for first place in the AFC South. But with Richardson under center, Indianapolis may very well have a grand opportunity to win what is a pretty weak division, especially if it gets star running back Jonathan Taylor back next week.

Anthony Richardson has totaled 479 yards, three touchdowns and an interception through three games this season. In addition, he has rushed for 131 yards and a hefty four scores.

The University of Florida product exited his club’s Week 2 win over the Houston Texans due to a concussion and was sidelined in the Week 3 victory over the Baltimore Ravens as a result.

Indianapolis will host the Tennessee Titans next Sunday.
