NFL Scout Reveals One Wide Receiver The Patriots Should Target

The New England Patriots were their normal busy selves during the 2022 NFL Draft. They were trading up and down the board, maneuvering around, which has become the norm with Bill Belichick running the show.

There isn’t a team as active as the Patriots when it comes to the draft. But, this year, they still came out of it with some needs on the roster. It wouldn’t hurt for them to add some more weapons to the wide receiver position, giving Mac Jones everything he needs to continue his development and to succeed at the next level.

The team did acquire DeVante Parker from the Miami Dolphins, providing New England with that big-bodied receiver that can win downfield. That is what they envisioned N’Keal Harry being when they selected him in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, but things have not panned out for the Arizona State product.

If the Patriots did want to make another addition to wide receiver, there are plenty of veterans available still that can produce. One NFL scout believes that the player New England should target to bring in is Will Fuller V.

“The Patriots could still use another wide receiver for Mac Jones to work with. If I’m Bill Belichick, I’m taking a shot on Will Fuller. When healthy, Fuller can take the top off of defenses and be a legitimate 1B option.”

Injuries have been an issue for the Notre Dame product throughout his career. Fuller appeared in only two games last season with the Miami Dolphins and has missed at least two games in every season of his career. 2021 was the fifth consecutive season that he has been sidelined for at least five games.

However, when he is on the field, he is capable of producing some strong numbers. He averages 14.7 yards per reception as he is a legitimate deep threat, someone that can beat defenses down the field with ease. His deep ball route tree is excellent, as he can win in multiple fashions.

With the depth that New England has put together at wide receiver, they can take a chance on Fuller. If he misses more time, they know they can fall back on Jakobi Meyers, Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor behind Parker. Harry is also still in the mix but is a prime candidate to be moved on from.
