NFL Scout Reveals Perfect Target For Cowboys In The NFL Draft

This offseason has been a relatively quiet one for the Dallas Cowboys compared to recent years. The franchise was in a bit of a salary crunch, which led to some difficult decisions being made.

Amari Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns to open up some salary-cap space and the team lost numerous important pieces in free agency as well. Wide receiver Cedrick Wilson, offensive linemen Connor Williams and La’el Collins and EDGE Randy Gregory all departed, to name a few.

Despite the exodus of players, this is a roster that is still built to compete, especially given the relative weakness of the NFC East. They have excellent pieces on both sides of the ball, but they need to hit on some selections in the 2022 NFL Draft and find immediate contributors.

Dallas currently has nine selections in the draft and will be looking to add depth across the board. One NFL scout that talked to NFL Analysis Network believes that the offensive line is what should be targeted with the Cowboys’ first-round pick, with Kenyon Green out of Texas A&M being the perfect target.

“Jerry Jones and company have been relatively quiet this offseason. Heading into the draft, there are plenty of needs. If I had to pinpoint one guy that they should take at No. 24, I’d go with Texas A&M offensive lineman Kenyon Green.”

Green would bring a lot of versatility to the table for Dallas. He started at every position along the offensive line in 2021 except for center. Production followed no matter where he was positioned, so Dallas can plug and play him pretty much anywhere along the offensive line and Green will get the job done.

If the Cowboys deploy him at guard, he can help in the run game right away. His pass protection needs a little more work, which is why he is likely going to play on the interior to start his career, but it is good to know that he can hold his own on the perimeter.

His movement and athleticism for a 325-pounder are eye-popping. He can succeed in various schemes, but cleaning up some of the holding penalties and improving his instincts is what will determine just how high he moves up the ranks of offensive lineman in the NFL.

Given how elite the Cowboys are at certain spots on the offensive line, Green makes for a smart selection as he can be relied upon for his strengths out of the gate and develop the rest of his game the first few seasons of his career.
