NFL Scout Reveals Two WRs The Packers Need To Target

The Green Bay Packers wide receiver depth chart is going to look drastically different in 2022. Superstar wide receiver Davante Adams will no longer be lining up on the perimeter of the offense, as he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders.

It is a big blow for Green Bay. Adams is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL and produced some monster numbers as Aaron Rodgers’ go-to receiver. Without him, their aerial attack is going to look a lot different.

But, he may not be the only wide receiver they lose. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a free agent and so is Allen Lazard. With all three players not currently on the roster, Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers, a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, are atop the depth chart.

Replacing Adams will be difficult enough, but losing their three leading receivers from the 2021 season would be difficult to overcome. One NFL scout, when talking to NFL Analysis Network, believes that there is no reason for people to be panicking about the loss of Adams.

“Everyone is worrying about the Packers right now, but there is zero reason to do so. Losing Davante Adams doesn’t have to hurt that bad. If I’m Green Bay, I’m signing Marquez Valdes-Scantling and drafting Drake London. Those two guys solve the problem.”

The team opened up a good chunk of cap space with Rodgers’ agreeing to an extension and Adams being traded. It would make a lot of sense to reallocate some of those funds into retaining Valdes-Scantling, who looked to be on his way out the door when the offseason began.

Drake London is certainly an intriguing name to keep an eye on. Now with two selections in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Packers could certainly look into targeting a wide receiver with one of those selections.

London is gigantic, standing 6’4” and weighing 219 pounds. While he lacks top-end athleticism, he is elite in contested ball situations, aided by his two-sport background as a basketball standout as well.

If Green Bay is deadset on selecting him, they very well may have to move up in the draft to have the opportunity to do so. There are some mock drafts that have London as the first receiver off the board around the top-10. The Packers are set to be on the clock at No. 22 and No. 28 in the first round, so they may be out of range for London.
