Producing elite results every season is a challenging feat to accomplish even for some of the NFL’s top stars. There are many contributing factors that go into players maximizing their impact and if things deteriorate, a disappointing season can be the end consequence.
There are situations when a young player appears to be set to take the next step to become one of the best at their position, but it just doesn’t pan out. In fact, there can even be regression that takes place and with that comes the need for a bounce-back season.
Sometimes simply having a down year happens. Whether it’s a wide receiver who has to play with a mediocre quarterback or a quarterback who has to attempt to transcend a poor offensive line but fails, a supporting cast plays a critical role.
Before getting into the players that made the cut, it’s important to note that missed a significant amount of games in 2019 were excluded. For example, Cam Newton appeared in just two games last season, but had an effective 2018 campaign when he was last healthy.
