The Minnesota Vikings have gotten off to a horrific 1-4 start this season and have shown no signs of turning it around. The Vikings are now three games behind the Detroit Lions for first place in the NFC North, so they could blow things up between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.
One name that could be on the move is edge rusher Danielle Hunter. He is in the final year of his deal, and with him being 29 years old, it seems hard to imagine the Vikings giving him a new contract this offseason if they do elect to go with a rebuild (which seems pretty probable at this point).
For that reason, it would behoove Minnesota to trade Hunter now in order to recoup some value for him before he walks for nothing in free agency come springtime.
NFL NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Danielle Hunter, Minnesota Vikings & Kansas City Chiefs Updates
In assessing potential landing spots for Hunter, Christopher Kline of FanSided named the Kansas City Chiefs as a possible destination.
The Chiefs are obviously contending for another Super Bowl, and adding Hunter to a defensive front that already includes star defensive lineman Chris Jones would be a massive boon for the club.
While the Vikings have struggled as a collective unit this season, Hunter has not.
The LSU product has already logged 25 tackles, six sacks and a forced fumble through the first five weeks of 2023, putting him on track for his fourth Pro Bowl campaign.
Hunter is now in his ninth NFL season, all of them coming in Minnesota. His best years came in 2018 and 2019, when he racked up 14.5 sacks in back-to-back campaigns.
