NFL World Reacts To Titans Trading Up For QB Will Levis

The Tennessee Titans were one of the teams that people were keeping a close eye on during Day 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft. Rumors were swirling that the team could make a move up the draft board with their eyes on one of the top quarterback prospects. One name that many were watching to start the second round was Kentucky quarterback Will Levis.

The Arizona Cardinals were a good trade partner for Tennessee, but they ended up making a deal centered around the No. 3 pick with the Chicago Bears. The Titans ended up not making a trade, instead staying at No. 11 and selecting offensive lineman Peter Skoronski out of Northwestern.

But, the opportunity arose once again for the Titans to make a trade with the Cardinals on Day 2. With Will Levis slipping out of the first round, the chance to select one of the top quarterback prospects presented itself once again. This time, they pounced.

Tennessee completed a trade with the Cardinals, trading the Nos. 41 and 72 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, along with a 2024 third-rounder, in exchange for Nos. 33 and 81. With the No. 33 pick, the Titans selected Levis, ending his slide down the board.

It was a move that many people from NFL Twitter thought highly of. One user said, “There it is. Good trade up and pick for the Titans.” Another fan poked fun at Levis’s admission that he puts mayonnaise in his coffee, which certainly drew some criticism on social media.

One fan expressed disappointment that Levis was heading to Tennessee, hoping he would have landed with the Los Angeles Rams in the second round. Levis will now be joining Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis on the Titans depth chart, likely being the backup to Tannehill until the team is ready to give Levis the starting spot.

Will Levis will have a chip on his shoulder after being surpassed by so many teams. Tennessee attempted to move into the late first round to get him last night, but had to wait a few more hours to make a trade and get their guy.
