The Philadelphia Eagles are once again going to be Super Bowl contenders during the 2023 season. Despite some turnover on their coaching staff and roster, this is a team ready to go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the NFL.

There aren’t any glaring holes on the Eagles’ roster currently. Their only real concern is whether or not some of the players stepping into new roles will be able to succeed in them. Defensively is where a lot of that will occur, as they lost numerous starters and key rotation players.

One of the team’s biggest losses was along the defensive line. Javon Hargrave departed in free agency, signing a massive contract with the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles will be counting on 2022 first-round pick Jordan Davis to help fill the void alongside Fletcher Cox.

If Philadelphia has any worries about Davis being able to take over the role, they can look to make a splash trade. One player who would certainly pique their interest is Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams.

There isn’t a team in the NFL that wouldn’t love to have Donald on their roster. He is arguably the most dominant player currently in the league and has a gold jacket waiting for him in Canton once he calls it a career.

With retirement rumors already swirling around him, Donald could want to move on from the Rams, who are closer to a rebuild than contending. With that in mind, Alex Kay of Bleacher Report has suggested a blockbuster trade that would send Donald to the City of Brotherly Love.

In the hypothetical trade, Kay suggested that the Eagles send first and second-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft to Los Angeles in exchange for the future Hall of Famer. For the Rams, those are premium selections that will help them restock what is a pretty barren roster.

For the Eagles, they are receiving another dominant player to put in the middle of an already strong defense. Trying to slow down a defensive front with Haason Reddick, Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, Cox, Nolan Smith and Donald would give opposing offensive coordinators nightmares.
