While the Chicago Bears have voiced their confidence in quarterback Mitchell Trubisky throughout this offseason, many believe the team will still look for a contingency plan if Trubisky fails to take a step forward in development.
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, free agent quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Teddy Bridgwater have all been rumored as possible candidates for the Bears. One name that hasn’t gotten much traction, though, is Jacksonville Jaguars $88 million quarterback Nick Foles.
Reports around the league have indicated that Jacksonville will actively shop Foles this offseason as they prepare to move forward with Gardner Minshew. Whether a team will actually trade for Foles and take on his contract seems doubtful, which could lead the Jags to flat out cutting the former Super Bowl MVP.
If Foles does hit the open market, Chicago should reach out to his agent immediately.
