Oakland Raiders: 3 Bold Predictions for Derek Carr in 2018

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Derek Carr Will Lead the Raiders to a Division Title

The Raiders haven’t won a division title since 2002 when they went 11-5 under Bill Callahan. Interestingly enough, that was the season after the Raiders traded Jon Gruden to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who they went on to lose to in the Super Bowl. Good times, good times.

Many experts are picking the Chargers to win the AFC West, and many are also claiming that the Raiders will finish in the cellar. Actually, the famous Colin Cowherd predicted the Raiders to finish last in the division with a 5-11 record. The lack of respect given to the Raiders by the media actually works in their favor because it puts a chip on their shoulder. The last time the media was this down on the team they went 12-4 and proved everyone wrong.

The AFC West is very unpredictable. The Chargers cannot stay healthy as they have already lost Hunter Henry and Jason Verrett for the year. The Chiefs will be led by a new quarterback and have a new offensive coordinator. Also, we can’t forget about the Broncos who went all in on a quarterback with one good season in his career. The Raiders have their own issues, but the point is the west is going to be wild.

In their 12-4 2016 season the Raiders narrowly missed out on the division title, two seasons later, Carr will finally bring the AFC West title back to Oakland.
