Seattle Seahawks
Karl Joseph isn’t a great coverage safety, mainly because of his size, but he makes up for it by playing big. What I mean by that is his aggressiveness resembles a linebacker, so his strong suit is in the box to sniff out runs or anything towards the flat. The Seahawks love to run with single high safety or drop a safety into the box like during their “Legion of Boom” days. Karl Joseph can take on that Kam Chancellor role of the hard-hitting box safety. I’m not saying he’s the same talent as Chancellor or even close to it.
Joseph would be a great addition because of his value. The worst the Seahawks would most likely have to give up for Joseph is a sixth-round pick, or at least that’s where they should cut it off. Joseph is still a young talent that can be molded into an outstanding player. He’ll also be reunited with his former defensive coordinator in Ken Norton Jr. Norton loved playing Joseph strictly as a box safety, and it worked more times than not. Why not take a flyer on him if you’re the Seahawks?
It’s practically a sure thing that Earl Thomas won’t be returning to the team. Kam Chancellor himself is more than likely going to retire, leaving the safety position for the Seahawks depleted. Trading away a sixth-round pick for a player who’s already known and can still be developed is a no-brainer. Karl Joseph would give Seahawks fans a lot of flashbacks to the “Legion of Boom” days with his own play. Seattle should seriously consider trading for him.
