Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers were one of the biggest surprises in 2019. After missing the playoffs in each of the two previous seasons, they finished with a 13-3 regular season record and made a run to the NFC Championship Game.
It has been a major turnaround under first-year head coach Matt LaFleur. The culture has completely changed for the better. There are many reasons to be excited about the future.
CBS Sports has revealed odds for Super Bowl 55 and the Packers may not be as high up on the list as some might think. They currently have Green Bay as the ninth mostly likely team to win a championship next season.
Many believe Rodgers has taken a step back over the last couple of years. Some have even gone so far as to say that he is no longer an elite NFL quarterback. Green Bay is ready to prove those critics wrong.
While the Packers are a talented football team, they need to add more talent. They need help at wide receiver and may need to beef up their offensive line a bit. In addition to those needs, the defense needs more athleticism at linebacker and the defensive line could use an upgrade alongside Kenny Clark.
Ranking them as the night mostly likely team to win next year’s Super Bowl is a bit low. However, the Packers are happy to play the role of underdog.
If they can make a move or two in free agency and add some young talent in the 2020 NFL Draft, they are going to take a big step forward. Brian Gutekunst has become one of the top general managers in football and fans should be confident that he will get things done.
Expect to see the Packers competitive once again in 2020 and don’t be surprised if they end up being one of the top contenders in the NFL.
Why would anyone think we could win 55? We cant win the NFC Championship!
