Ohio State Buckeyes: Exclusive interview with 2021 4-star RB Evan Pryor

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been great at finding and developing talented running backs for years now. With recent names like JK Dobbins, Mike Weber, Ezekiel Elliott, and even Carlos Hyde coming out of Ohio State, there are quite a few players to keep an eye on to be the next star Buckeyes’ back.

One name to keep a close eye on is 2021 four-star running back commit Evan Pryor. Hailing from North Carolina, Pryor is a massive playmaker and cannot wait to get his career started with the Buckeyes.

According to his MaxPreps page, Pryor put together a very solid season in 2019 as a junior. He carried the football 164 times for 1,130 yards and 11 touchdowns. Pryor also caught 38 passes for 646 yards and eight more scores.

Looking ahead to the future, Pryor has the potential and talent to become a stud at the college level. Ohio State has the coaching staff to help groom him and help mold him into the next big thing. The NFL is an absolute possibility for the young back.

We had the opportunity to interview Pryor about his game, his goals, and what comes next for him at Ohio State. For those who haven’t seen him play and for all Buckeyes fans, this is must-read material.

First up, we asked him about his commitment to Ohio State and what the main deciding factors were in his decision to join the Buckeyes.

“For me was comfortability with my family and opportunity. The platform at Ohio State is so big it was hard to turn down. They also gave me the best shot to develop and a chance to make it to the NFL.”

He also opened up about his playmaking ability when deserving what he brings to the field.

“Exciting and home run hitting. On any given play I can go to the house from anywhere on the field.”

We then asked Pryor what he thinks his biggest strengths and weaknesses are at this stage of his career. He gave a great answer to the difficult question.

“I’d say my biggest strengths are my ability to make defenders miss and out run defenders. Something I can improve is my pass blocking. Something I have really had to do throughout my career.”

At this point in time, Pryor has a very intriguing college comparison for himself. It comes in the form of a current dominant college running back.

“I compare my game to Chubba Hubbard at Oklahoma State. The one cut play style and ability to produce in the pass game as well.”

While it’s still early, we decided to ask Pryor about some of his goals that he has already set for his career at Ohio State.

“Team is to obviously win a national title. Individually would be to see the field often my freshman year. Be able to have an impact on games and the teams performance.”

Ohio State has a top-notch recruiting class once again in 2021. Pryor opened up a bit about his thoughts on the class and offered a couple players to watch for the fans.

“Our class is great. We have the ability to make an instant impact on the team with the type of guys we have. I’d say keep an eye on Emeka Egbuka and Tristan Leigh.”

Fans are going to love what they see from Pryor the instant he hits campus in Columbus. He talked about what he will bring to the Buckeyes from day one.

“They should expect me to compete and give everything I have to the team.”

If you’re a young player with dreams of playing college football, Pryor also was happy to give some words of advice.

“Keep grinding and find what separates you from the rest and perfect that. Don’t try to be like anyone else.”

Pryor is excited to play in the Big Ten, but is even more excited to join the Ohio State vs. Michigan rivalry.

“Playing in the Big 10 was something I thought about and liked. They play some of the best football in the country. The best versus the best. I’m excited to play TUN, can’t wait to beat the breaks off them.”

Finally, Pryor ended the interview with a very bold statement that should excited the Buckeyes and their fans.

“Yeah. I will win the Doak Walker award.”
