The Ohio State Buckeyes remain undefeated at 2-0 after taking an early bye week.
With the added time off, the team and coaching staff focused on getting healthy and addressing issues identified in game film. Ohio State is set to host Marshall this week, with the Buckeyes entering the matchup as heavy favorites and looking to move to 3-0.
The bye week not only gave Ohio State time to make adjustments on the field but also allowed the coaching staff to shift focus to the recruiting trail.
Head coach Ryan Day and his staff used the weekend to extend offers to several offensive line prospects for the 2025 recruiting class. The offensive line has been an area of concern for the 2025 class, and the Buckeyes are working diligently to address the need for top talent at that position.
As the Buckeyes continue to build their roster for the future, securing key recruits is a top priority.
Top 2025 Linebacker Target Includes Ohio State in Top Six
Early in the week, Ohio State made significant recruiting headlines with four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng (Bradenton, FL / IMG Academy), who announced his top six schools on Monday.
Ohio State is among the finalists, alongside Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, USC, and Texas.
Owusu-Boateng has been a major target for the Buckeyes, and his recruitment has been closely followed by many. He took an official visit to Columbus in June, one of several visits he made to top programs.
Interestingly, while Florida has yet to receive an official visit from Owusu-Boateng, he did attend the Gators’ first game of the season and may still schedule a visit to Gainesville.
The Buckeyes are in a strong position to earn the talented linebacker’s commitment, but his recruitment is far from over. Owusu-Boateng hinted that a decision could come soon, though he has not solidified his choice.
Ohio State will likely aim to get him back on campus for a game-day experience to strengthen their chances. However, with his high school football commitments in Florida, finding time for another visit could be challenging.
Looking Ahead in the Recruitment Battle
Owusu-Boateng ranks as the No. 8 linebacker in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, and is the No. 73 overall prospect in the 2025 class. The blue-chip prospect is also ranked No. 11 in the talent-rich state of Florida, making him a coveted recruit for any program.
For Ohio State, securing Owusu-Boateng would be a major boost to an already strong recruiting class. As the battle heats up with top programs like Michigan, Notre Dame, and Texas, the Buckeyes will need to stay active in their pursuit and take advantage of any opportunity to get the linebacker back on campus.
Ohio State continues to push forward on both the field and the recruiting trail as they prepare for a key matchup against Marshall.
With the Buckeyes looking to move to 3-0 and further solidify their 2025 recruiting class, the next few weeks will be crucial for the program’s future.
