Seattle Seahawks: Shaquem Griffin
The rumors about Myles Garrett possibly being traded to Seattle are not true. Another blockbuster rumor was that the Seahawks could look to trade Russell Wilson in the future. That sounds ridiculous. Either way, nothing substantial will happen this year so here is another way the Seahawks could go.
Griffin was a tremendous player at UCF, but he fell to the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Seahawks thought they had a steal in Griffin, but he has not been able to find a consistent role. He suffered a knee injury prior to the 2019 season, leaving his role up in the air.
The Seahawks gave Griffin a chance to rush the passer in 2019, but the numbers have not been there. He has started one game in two years and finished 2019 with just five tackles.
Seattle has one of the top linebacking groups in the league. Bruce Irvin is returning to the Seahawks to join Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright. They are a talented and experienced group in the middle of the defense and Griffin is low on the depth chart, but he could get Seattle a mid to late round pick.
There is just no room for Griffin. He is a player that could turn into a key contributor, but the fit is not right in Seattle. It would behoove both sides to find a trade partner and send Griffin somewhere he could play.
