The Trade: Green Bay Acquires No. 11 From The Jets For No. 30, No. 136, and a 2021 second-round pick
While the Packers would be giving up their first and fourth-round picks this year along with their second-round pick next offseason, they should absolutely pull the trigger on this deal. Finding a talent like Ruggs isn’t easy to do and Green Bay is just a piece or two away from a Super Bowl.
Granted, the Jets would have a tough time moving down from No. 11, but they would still be able to get a wideout like Tee Higgins or Denzel Mims at No. 30, another piece in the fourth round, and a second-round pick next year to add as an extra asset.
If the Packers want to win a Super Bowl, they need to be aggressive to build around Aaron Rodgers while they can. Gutekunst has made it clear that he will have no hesitance about being aggressive. He has made trades in the first round in each of the last two drafts.
Moving up with the Jets makes a ton of sense. New York may not be interested in moving down if they have a prospect they absolutely want no matter what, but acquiring more picks and assets would be a wise move.
Ruggs should be available at No. 11. There is a chance that he could go in the top-10, but that seems a bit unlikely at this point in time barring another team moving up to get him.
This trade may not even be discussed, but it is certainly something that would make sense. Green Bay gets their speedy No. 2 wideout and the Jets stockpile more picks. It’s a win for both sides.
